November 15, 1999 (New York)......Çukurova Sanayi Isletmeleri,
a textile mill in Southern Turkey, will present at Heimtex designs for the first
year of the new millennium. CSI has created fabrics that are a response to the
yearning for the tranquility, simplicity, orderliness in our private life not
found in our public one. These desires find expression in the colors, weaves,
patterns and fibers of the collection. They are, in some way, a reaction to the
distraction, decisions and diversions overwhelming us because of the accelerated
pace of our lives.
Commented Terrence O'Neill, EPE Design Director, "We find
pleasure in the small woven designs done tone-on-tone or two colors at most, in
the crisp hand of the textured whites, the fragile pastels and vegetal greens
and tans, the comfort of the minimalist satin weaves. We respond to the softness
of the fabric, achieved through special finishing, and the 100% cotton
content."
The medium weight textures provide an attractive foundation
that complements and supports the light-weight fabrics. Prints focus on small
flowers strewn on a linen-blend cloth, reflecting the ephemeral colors of dawn.
Colors reflect the progression of the light throughout the
day. We are reminded of the violet dawn, the blue sky, the yellow/orange sun,
the silvery grays at dusk.
Home textile fabrics from Çukurova Sanayi for 2000 promise
respite from the hectic pace of our over scheduled life. CSI is returning to
Heimtex, Frankfurt, Germany, January 12-15, Booth 42J79. CSI is the textile
division of Çukurova Group, one of Turkey's largest holding companies. EPE,
Inc., based in New York, is the Group's gateway to the Americas.
